What's the difference between HDPE and PE water pipes?

2025-09-17 0 Leave me a message

The main difference between HDPE and PE pipes lies in their materials, properties and applications.

1. Material: HDPE uses high density polyethylene, while PE uses standard polyethylene.

2. HDPE pipes must withstand a certain pressure, so PE resins with high molecular weight and excellent mechanical properties are usually required, such as HDPE. HDPE pipe is 9 times stronger than standard polyethylene pipe (PE pipe). Among all engineering plastics, HDPE has the highest wear resistance. The higher the molecular weight, the stronger the wear resistance of the material, even more than many metals (such as carbon steel, stainless steel and bronze). Standard PE lacks this attribute.

3. HDPE pipe can be used for high-pressure pipes in industrial and urban water supply and drainage systems, while PE pipe is a standard pressure pipe in agricultural irrigation, coal mining and other industries.
